Hello, again, all!

This is me bringing you up to speed .

WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS

The genuine camaraderie and general good vibeyness of my recent gig with Myrrh, Tim Dillinger, Pam Mark Hall, Jerry Chamberlain, and Michael Mishaw have softened the blow of an evening seasoned with Give Reverb to Every Vocalist But the Bald Chick, a piano in desperate need of tuning, and a merciless set of cameras capturing the 30+ pounds of steroid weight I now lug to and fro. (There's nothing like lingering shots of the porcine flanks formerly known as my legs and evidence of how the new, expanded version of myself brings with it an Esther Rolle-like no-neckedness to remind me that these have been physically cruel months, indeed.)

Thank God it's all about the music.

And, honestly, Kulak's is a GREAT place to play.

We might be adding another July date—this one in the northeastern part of the country. I'll let you know what comes of that.

HERE COMES THE SUN

The Muse has landed and I'm writing like crazy. It feels good. Here's a very rough demo of one of my latest—a song based on a well-known Greek myth/cautionary tale. I hope you like it. It's called "Icarus", and you may hear it by clicking THIS LINK. It fell into my lap in something like 20 minutes. I love when that happens.

"Songwriting is a very mysterious process. It feels like creating something from nothing. It's something
I don't feel like I really control."
- Tracy Chapman

I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW

Thanks to all of you who expressed concern during my latest weird health episode. (I woke up, a couple of weeks ago, almost entirely unable to see anything but outlines and shadows. It was a little scary, but I was fairly back to normal by day's end.) The diagnosis was "occipital seizure presenting as bilateral visual loss" and, I've since learned, it's something that can occur in people with my medical history. I'm being ably tended and have a brand spankin' new eyeglass prescription, my old one apparently now only mocking me. Which reminds me!: 'Anyone know where I can get a great deal on a pair of specs? Someplace that won't charge a billion dollars (as they are wont to do at the spot where I received my prescription)? Let me know ASAP, 'cause I'll need to take care of this toute de suite. I've got giggin' to do!

And that's the 4-1-1. For now.

Peace and Light!
Patsy
